NORTH HILL OVERVIEW

RESIDENTS

There is a strong sense of community and heritage in North Hill.  Residents are proud of their homes, which they restore as labors of love.  They are also dedicated to preserving the distinctive nature of the area and actively lobby the city, county and state for funds to preserve and restore the streetscapes.

HISTORY

North Hill was the first "suburb" of Pensacola.  In the newly settled Pensacola, commerce and residences existed side by side along the waterfront of Pensacola Bay.  As settling families branched out into the lumber and import business, prosperity followed.  These founding families then moved "up the hill" to homes that displayed their new found wealth.  When first built, most homes in North Hill had panoramic views of Pensacola Bay and the homes caught the cool breeze blowing from the bay up the hill.

ARCHITECTURE

North Hill embodies many architectural styles - from the gingerbread Victorian to the stately Federal home.  There are more than 300 beautiful homes, most primarily built between 1895 and 1941.  Almost every home style from the late 19th to modern day can be found nestled under magnificent oak trees and magnolias.

LOCATION:

North Hill is situated near many cultural, commercial and culinary venues.  Downtown Pensacola is walking distance away.  An interstate connection is right around the corner, allowing residents to access other parts of Pensacola in minutes.  Pensacola Beach is a mere 15 minute drive.  Three major hospitals are minutes away.

COMMUNITY:

North Hill's atmosphere is conducive to outdoor activities.  Front porches, wide streets and sidewalks encourage strolling and socializing  Alabama Square, the neighborhood park, is the site for many gatherings.  For the adults, The North Hill Preservation Association hosts Annual Meetings, Founder's Day Parties, Octoberfest and Christmas Parties in the Park.  Children's seasonal parties are also held at the park and the Easter Bunny and Santa make annual stops in the Square.

WHY LIVE IN NORTH HILL?

The history and ambiance of North Hill has lured many people from various areas in Pensacola and from all parts of the US and World.

Let Leslie show you why North Hill is a wonderful place to live.
